Their vision
“2027: freedom or death for France.”
President and founder of Debout la France, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan is running for president for the fourth time. Heir to a radical Gaullist sovereigntism, he puts national independence above all else and calls for a total break with the constraints of supranational treaties. His creed: a free France, in control of its borders, its industry and its currency, able to act without Brussels' permission.
Their platform
Sovereignty & a Europe of nations
Break with the way the European Union currently works and replace it with a “Europe of free nations.” France must recover its full legislative, monetary and border sovereignty without waiting for its partners' agreement.
Protectionism & reindustrialisation
Reintroduce national customs duties and launch a massive industrial relocation plan. End offshoring by taxing imports that compete unfairly with French production.
Immigration & security
Strict border control and the end of certain bilateral agreements. Total firmness against crime, with a state of emergency in high-risk areas. The safety of French citizens comes before any supranational consideration.
Citizens' initiative referendum & direct democracy
Introduce a Swiss-style Citizens' Initiative Referendum (RIC) to give real power back to French citizens. Deeply reform the institutions so they serve citizens rather than party machines.
A free & prosperous France
Presents himself as the only candidate able to act free of the constraints of supranational treaties. His project aims for a reindustrialised France, master of its destiny, prosperous and free from any ideological or institutional tutelage.
